We all need more of God. Every single one of us. No matter what is going on, in whatever category of life, our soul is crying for more of God.
After all, Paul says that God is the singular source of your life and breath and everything else (Acts 16:25). If so, then you being alive enough to read this means that you are already experiencing Him, aware or unaware, just like your body is being sustained by air whether you are paying attention to that fact or not.
Have you ever noticed that your body, occasionally, has to interrupt itself to get a bit more air? Sometimes you find yourself taking a deep breath. Other times, comes through a yawn. When you require much of your body, your breathing accelerates without you even trying. Occasionally, it is medically helpful to put a mask on our face in order to get concentrated air into the body.
While your body generally takes care of getting you more air when you need it, it is on you to get more of God.
So, my simple question is this: what are you doing on a regular basis to receive more of God? In this series, we are talking about simple, accessible, sustainable practices that you can do daily in order to give God more access to your soul, and to get your soul more of God. A morning prayer. A 60-second pause. An evening passage. In our world of busy-ness and technology, you must unplug.
But you must also release. As a practice. Our souls carry so much. Too much. It is killing us. Some of our loved ones have even killed themselves. It is THIS practice, this neglected practice, tucked away in the life of Paul, that we need to examine further today, and learn.
Try it on with this sincere prayer: "Father, I give everything and everyone to you."
