Being A Beyond Us, Beyond Here People

Have you ever wondered why God - the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirt - created anything or anyone at all?

Think about it. As Christians, we believe that God was completely self-sufficient, completely happy, and completely complete, without anything other than Himself. So why did He create this world and us?

We cannot know why He did it, but that He did it does mean something about His nature and character that perhaps we can know: From the beginning, He has always been a "Beyond Us, Beyond Here" God.

If that is true, then as children of God, we are apples that should not fall far from the tree (Ephesians 5:1). Not only that, but from Genesis to Jesus, God reveals that He expects His people to be a "Beyond Us, Beyond Here" people. Sure, He has always been about forming groups - His groups - set apart from and living a different code than the rest of the world (2 Corinthians 6:17). Nevertheless, baked into that "differentness" is the undying quality, required of those groups, to reach out to world beyond themselves.

I have not met one Christian in all of my life that was called to reach ALL people groups that exist in the world. However, I have also never met a Christian who was not called to reach out to, befriend, love, and share Christ's Kingdom with one or two.

Who are you called to? Will you listen? When God opens doors into people's lives, will you ignore or shut it? Or will you walk through?

Here is my vote: Walk through.
