Our Kingdom Impact Abroad

What is your calling from God?

For me, it is a big exciting question, packed full of thrilling possibility and adventure!

However, I know for some it can feel intimidating. And for others, the question makes them timid with insecurity. For others still, it reveals an unhealthy self-image they carry around as they think, "God can't use me." And yet another group doesn't want to be bothered by asking, experiencing it as a potential inconvenience to their lives.

Of course, around here, we believe it to be a freeing question that has the power to unleash who you really are, and in a way that really matters (perhaps THE way). I hope we are doing a good job of communicating just how important it is that you figure out how you can be making a Kingdom mark on the world. It is important for God to get maximum glory, and it is important for God to give you maximum joy.

And remember, not everyone is called to "sell everything" and go overseas. As Paul said in Romans 12:6 - "We have different gifts."

Now, that being said, some people are called to completely leave their lives and go overseas. And this morning, we have the honor of having one of those people with us, Johnny Eastep, who is our missionary to the Philippines. I've not met a more faithful man to the calling that he has received. We are blessed to have him speaking a word to us today during our worship.

Johnny is also a gifted teacher and preacher, and very astute life-long learner, and on top of that, he loves the Southwest church with his whole heart and never misses an opportunity to tell us and show us.
