The traditional Christian Easter greeting is actually a proclamation made between believers. One person says, "He is risen!" and the response is "He is risen, indeed!"
Easter Sunday, more accurately called Resurrection Sunday, is the day that reminds Christians that the bloody cross, though it brought him death, was not the end of the Jesus story. And the meaning attached to this fact changes everything for those who believe.
The meaning? There is life after death.
There is a noticeable difference between communities that believe death is the end of life, and those that believe there is life after death.
We've been studying Ephesians, and today we begin into chapter 4, where the author Paul begins to unpack what it means to live a life worthy of the Resurrection story that we live under.
Why? Because there are implications and applications that affect real life now. The good news that Paul covers in the first three chapters isn't just truth to nod your head at. It is truth to conform your life to. We don't just get eternal life after death, we get abundant life right now.
He begins by telling us three things that the Resurrection community (the church) must embrace: unity, diversity, and maturity.
In a nutshell, the "He is risen!" community is unified, serving the same mission, but not in the same way, as we all have diverse gifts and ways to serve, by design. Each of these become more and more a part of your life as you move out of spiritual infancy and into spiritual maturity.
It is the best way to live. He is risen, indeed!
