When God Was Resurrected

There are some things so dear, some things so precious, some things so eternally true, that they are worth dying for. And I submit to you that if a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
Paul, Philippians 1:21

"We embrace death because there is something about death that helps us to live well...The closer you come to death the closer you come to life."
Josh Graves

There is something about death that teaches us about life.
Death exposes what really matters.
Death exposes purpose.
Death exposes life.
Death is life's teacher.

Our world, our culture is desperate for life. Look around you. We run after medals and titles and addresses and vacations and statuses and followers, all hoping that they might bring life. But we know they don't. The evidence that we must always strive for more, that we are never satisfied, is evidence alone that those things are inept in bringing us the life that we truly desire.

As we approach the Resurrection this morning, may we learn from Christ's death, and resurrection, what it really means to live. May it change the way that we approach death and life. May Christ's resurrection teach us, and inspire us, to really live. May we embrace the amazing truth that DEATH = LIFE, both in death and in life.
