Taking Maximum Advantage of Christmas

Everything changes a bit during Christmas, doesn't it?

Now, whether it changes for the better or not isn't guaranteed. If you let the season master you, for example, you may find yourself busier, going into more debt than you should, and more stressed than normal, all of which we justify and excuse because, well, "It's Christmas."

But it does not have to go that way.

Why not take advantage of the seasonal change in a different way? Since, as the old song claims, it is supposed to "the most wonderful time of the year," why not make it that way?

Why not take the seasonal change by the scruff of the neck and use it (as opposed to it ruling you) as your excuse to increase the doing of some of the wonderful things that Christ-followers ought to be doing increasingly better at anyway?

For example, why not make this season the most wonderful time of the year for family? Why not use Christmas as an excuse to intentionally focus on each other in special way, or focus together on Christ in a special way, or offer family to someone that needs it in a special way, or all three?

Usually, to something out of the ordinary, something that breaks the momentum of you status quo, you need an excuse. A reason. Something to blame the change on. Even good change.

Why not use Christmas as an excuse to do something uniquely wonderful?
