"Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Correction does much, but encouragement does more." -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all!" -- Every Mom

Isn't it true that we all perform better in life when we know someone else is for us? Don't we all walk just a little bit taller, with a little bit more strength, with a little bit more desire to do what is right and good, when we have been built up? And on the flipside, don't we all feel a sense of dread and doubt when we have been discouraged?

To encourage someone is a lofty goal. To encourage someone is to actually put hope and courage in someone's heart. And aren't we all called by scripture to be encouragers, building each other up?

Unfortunately, we live in a culture of discouragement. At every turn, so many are hearing that they are not good enough, not talented enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough, not young enough, not old enough. We are called to be the exception to this.

This morning, we start a series the series, "Courage Builders", in which we hope to take a step towards changing the world by being ENCOURAGERS! This morning we will look at a man in scripture whose name was changed, because he was known for being such a great encourager.

Each week, you will hear about a Courage Builder's weekly challenge. Let's join together to see how much of a Kingdom difference we can make in our worlds by truly being "Courage Builders"
