Get Into Your Bible
To try to live the Christian life when you only are exposed to scripture by others presentation of it, is like trying to take a cross country trip in your car by insisting that someone else pay for and pump gas into it for you.
It's rare.
I hope, of course, that when you attend our worship services, that your exposure to the Bible and its message is powerful, energizing, motivating, and transformative for you. But as we all know, it is a long seven days between services.
You should be in your Bible. How much and how often I leave for you and God to work out. But I have no problem saying that however much and however often, you need it. Why not try one of these ideas to get a fresh start on it?
* Start reading today in Mark (or Proverbs, or anywhere). Read until something "strikes you". Sit there and give yourself time to figure out why. Say a prayer about it to God, then mark your spot. Repeat daily until you go through the book. Then pick another one.
* Download the free YouVersion of the Bible. Pick one of the plans offered - there is one that will suit everyone.
* Buy the Bible or New Testament on CD and listen to it in your car wherever you drive.
* Create your own plan. Find a buddy or read as family.
You have access to the Holy Bible, and you are called to live a holy life.
Why would you not utilize the former to accomplish the latter?
