Gentleness

Paul told the Galatians that gentleness is one of the qualities that the Holy Spirit enables. (Gal 5:23)

He told the Ephesians to be completely humble and gentle. (Eph. 4:2)
He told the Philippians to let their gentleness be evident to all. (Phil 4:5)

He told the Colossians to clothe themselves with gentleness. (Col 3:12)

He reminded the Thessalonians that he was gentle among them, like a mother caring for little children. (1 Thess. 2:7)

He told Timothy to pursue gentleness, and to only appoint overseers of Christ's church that exhibit gentleness. (1 Tim 3:3; 6:11)

Peter adds that even though we should be prepared to give answers to anyone about the hope we have in Christ, that those answers should not be given unless we can deliver them gentleness. (1 Peter 3:15)

And Christ himself, the only time he ripped open his heart to show what qualities reside there, described himself as gentle. (Mt 11:29)

In a nutshell, gentleness is the exact opposite of violence. Pray that God make us all gentle in our actions, our feelings, our words, our looks, our behaviors... in everything.
