I was visiting this week with a sister who has had some hope of marriage due to two men in her life pursuing her. One who does not care to be God's man and the other who thinks he can't be God's man, and yet both want her to attach her life to theirs.
They both need a new life. So does she.
I sat with a buddy this week who is addicted to drugs. He had an episode that almost killed him, and threatens to destroy his family.
He needs a new life.
I met with a guy this week who has been very burned by church and burned by people. He has dozens of social friends, but no real brothers. Even when they are offered, he holds them at arm's length, and knows it.
He needs a new life.
Yet another friend can't seem to let go of her guilt. The least mention of her faults, the slightest look in the mirror of introspection, and she runs away, avoiding the crushing feelings of condemnation.
She needs a new life.
One more: He feels very good about his position spiritually. He feels he knows enough, worships enough, gives enough, and is "Biblical" enough to be saved.
He needs a new life too.
It can be had by all of them. But only if they will do what Jesus did - die. If they will die to the lives they have, they can have a new one...with Christ.
Happy Easter.
