Like all of the prophets, Micah had a message to deliver. It was many things, but it can be understood as primarily one thing...
God wants something that He is not getting.
What was it that the God of Micah was wanting? What did He require?
This very question is asked and answered in one verse of the book: "He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (6:8)
With these few words, Micah has captured the soul of the whole Law! Read the Ten Commandments and you will see that they are expansions of these three divine requirements.
Spend any time at all striving to fulfill these three requirements and you will soon learn what Christ himself came to clarify: the requirements of God demand everything. They are a way of life, not a list of rules. They are personal and good, follow able only in the context of relationships with God and man.
Will you give God what He wants?
