Micah was a prophet of God who lived 700 years before the birth of Christ. Like all of the prophets, he came to the people of God confronting them in their forgetfulness. The people of God he spoke to had forgotten what we often forget, too.
They had forgotten to live their lives worthy of God, and they had forgotten to show through their lives the love of God.
The name Micah means "Who is like God?"
Humility demands, and spiritual reasoning assumes, that the obvious answer to that question is, "no one" .
But it brings up another more stimulating question.
"What is God like?" This week, let's ask this of the prophet Micah.
We will compare his answer to, and perhaps improve, our own view of God.
And then next week, let's return to Micah and with another important question: "What does God want from us?"
May God bless us.
