"Having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route." - Matthew 2:12
Why would the Magi from East, that came to visit Jesus at his birth, come to be known as "wise men"?
In the few verses of Matthew that speak of them, I see several reasons to consider these guys wise. They were seeking God, they placed their joy in finding Him, they gave gifts to Him when they did, and they worshipped Him. But there is one more quality in these men I consider wise.
They listened and responded to God.
The last thing we hear about these guys is that they had a dream. In it, they were instructed not to go back to King Herod and tell him where Jesus was.
And they didn't.
Do you listen for God? Do you believe, like these wise men did, that God wants to speak? And that when He does, He wants you to respond?
I believe God speaks. And one of His loudest statements to us was when He Himself came to Earth and become one of us. He came to be with us.
Have you listened to what God is saying through the birth of Jesus? Have you responded?
This Christmas, be like every child is about this holiday, and don't miss it.
