"On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him." - Matthew 2:11
There is one mighty truth about the Magi that came from the East that convinces me, above all other things, that they were indeed "wise men".
It is not that they were seeking God (though I believe that to be wise).
It is not that they were filled with exceedingly great joy when they found him (though I am exceedingly happy for them that they were).
It is not even, that they brought gifts, just in case they in fact did find God-with-us.
What convinces me that they were truly wise men was that they worshipped him.
Matthew records that not only did they worship him, but this was their intent all along (Matthew 2:2).
What is your intent with Jesus? What do you do with Jesus when you find him?
If worship carries the idea of "revolving one's life" around something, then just a casual look at mankind shows that we are all made to worship something.
And the wisest among us worship Jesus.
