In one of his epic statements, Jesus says "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom." (Luke 12:32)
These words are a treasure trove of metaphor about who God is, how God views us, and how God wants us to feel in this life.
God is a shepherd, and we are his sheep.
God is a Father, and we are his children.
God is a King, and we are his subjects.
God is a giver, and we are his recipients.
Do you have any idea what this means for you? Can you imagine how you would live your life if you were to take these things to heart and believe them? Do you know how you would feel?
Unafraid.
You would be unafraid.
I apply this verse to all areas of my life, but Luke places it smack dab in the middle of two teachings about money. How appropriate. So many of us live in fear concerning money. Take this teaching to heart on that subject, and I bet you become a master of this teaching on any subject.
