What Does The Holy Spirit Do?

Jesus told his followers that he would die, come back from the dead, and then meet with them.

They didn't believe him. They thought he was talking in some kind of spiritual code or something. As plainly as he said it, they still thought it was all over when he died.

But it wasn't. He came back from the dead. And he met with them.

In his last meeting with them, he told them something else. This time, I don't think they doubted him. He had conquered death, after all. This time, they were listening.

He said, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you." (Acts 1:8)

I wonder if a little shudder went up their spine. They knew what he said was true. Belief was not the issue at this point. No, the question this time was probably more to the tune of, "What power?"

The same question is still fielded by most Christ followers today. Doctrinally, most of us believe we have the Holy Spirit.

But experientially, what does it mean? How is life different once the Holy Spirit comes on us?

What power, exactly, have we received? And are we utilizing it?
