Realize There Is Hope
Right when the horror of your sin comes to bear...
Right when God convicts you...
Right when He pronounces you guilty...
Right when you agree you deserve to be punished...
...God's fatherhood shows up.
The book of Hosea reveals a God that can NOT justify, overlook, or escape the pain of our cheating on Him.
We have no where to hide. We all know... we are unfaithful. And we are unworthy. In truth, the anger, punishment, and wrath of God doesn't really surprise us. He's right to be hurt. He's right to be offended. He's right, because of His deep and unspeakable love for us, to hate our lack of love for Him.
Yet, the book of Hosea is decidedly (praise God) torn. Throughout its pages, after each and every painful pronouncement of punishment comes the tender, tearful, and unwavering voice of...not the angry God...but the loving Father.
There is a tragic present that Hosea demands we face. But, there is also a hopeful future.
