Realize The Consequences
Disciple: Master! I love and follow you alone!
Master: So you say. And so you believe. But you do not realize where you are unfaithful to me.
Disciple: Examine me, Lord. Open my eyes.
Master: Do you depend on anything other than our Father to feel secure?
Disciple: You know that I do, Lord.
Master: Then you are unfaithful. And God feels this disloyalty intensely.
Disciple: But I attribute all of these things as gifts from God and am careful to give God glory for them.
Master: All good things come from God. But when those good things become what you depend on for life, security, joy, and comfort, they cease to become gifts from God. You make them into idols.
Disciple: At what cost?
Master: God will punish this. God will repay you for your deeds. His wrath will pour out like a flood of water. He will discipline you.
Disciple: What must I do!
Master: Come, return to the Lord. His ways are right. The righteous walk in them.
