"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given...and he will be called Everlasting Father." - Isaiah 9:4
If calling this baby "wonderful counselor" was exciting, and calling him "mighty God" was amazing, then this name is both, and all the more.
Think about it: don't we keep our fathers distinct and separate from our sons? Of course we do! Isn't that the natural order of things?
Yet, this son, this one that has been given to us, he isn't just our son, but our Father.
What's more, He will always be our Father. Forever. This Wonderful Counselor who guides us and is worthy of our followership and this Mighty God who carries all power and is worthy of our awe, well...He will never cease looking at and treating us as His beloved children.
Forever.
"I and the Father are one," says Jesus. (Jn 10:30)
