It's A Boy!

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given..." Is 9:6

This verse, commonly associated with Jesus, does not speak of Jesus as God's son, but ours. Why? Why, when God could have done it any way He wanted to, did He redeem the world by sending him to us, giving to us a child of our own? Why did He make His son, our son?

Because...redemption come from within. Think about that. All true revolutions come from within. If a social movement is to catch on, it must be a movement from within that society.

Luther, a Catholic, was the reformer of Catholicism. Martin Luther, an American, was the reformer of America. And God wanted to re-form humanity. He wanted to save it. So Jesus, a human, was the Reformer of humanity.

Four hundred years before he was given to us as a child, Isaiah described him as "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." As we look at each of these names this month, let us celebrate the birth of our Boy!
