The Southwest church, like every other church on planet earth that professes Christ, has the commission to make disciples (followers) of Jesus Christ.
What if every church took that commission and figured out how to best obey it in their time and in their world? Southwest is, and plans to make disciples of Jesus through relationships.
Perhaps there are many ways to make disciples. But we have decided, for a variety of Biblical and cultural reasons, to make disciples by developing authentic and loving friendships with people. We believe the Bible calls for Christians to have these, and we believe the culture contains massive amounts of people who are hungry for these.
Perfect. A win/win/win if there ever was one.
If we love God, we’ll learn how to be in authentic and loving relationship with God.
If we love the church, we’ll learn how to be in authentic and loving relationships with people in the church.
If we love the world, we’ll learn how to be in authentic and loving relationships with people in the world.
Are you willing? Are you willing to learn how to engage with God and people (both inside and outside of church) in a more authentic and loving way?
Southwest is about to become a training center, a support system, and a resource hub for all of you to do just that.
Said another way, we are about to become a network of relationships that are delivering Christ to each other and the world better than we currently are, Lord willing.
Dear Lord, be willing. Willing to use us, mobilize us, grow us into the Christ-exalting, Kingdom-advancing, unstoppable force for good that You desire for us to be.
And dear Lord, make us willing. Willing to be used, mobilized, and grown into Kingdom workers who know how to be in spiritual and real relationship with You, and as a result, in real and spiritual relationship with others.
Make disciples through our relationships, dear God. Mobilize us to do it together - for Your glory and the good of the world.
Amen.
