The Hand of God

If you could see with your eyes the hand of God, you would be thrown down prostrate on the ground in hushed awe at the sight.

Why? Because you would be seeing something more beautiful than women, more powerful than a nuclear bomb, and more active and efficient than an ant bed. And so cosmic, that you would be overwhelmed.

You would see a hand that is strong beyond understanding, exalted above all things, lifted high in unspeakable honor (Ps 89:13).

You would see the hand that has been responsible for the mightiest of things in history and beyond it (Ps 118:16). A hand capable of giving people unity of mind (2 Chr 30:12) or filling a city with panic (1 Sam 5:11). Power and might define.

Perhaps even more overwhelming would be your sight of what is in that hand. Why? Because you are there.

Your life is there (Dan 5:23). Your satisfaction is there (Eccl 2:24). Your times are there (Ps 31:15). Your ways are there (Dan 5:23).

It's true. When His hands could be doing anything at all in the universe, He chooses to put you in them.

Did you know that scripture says that God has a tattoo? Just one. And it is on His hand. You know what it is? Your name (Is 49:16).

And there is one more thing about God's hand, the best yet, that would cause you to fall down in awe-struck worship, humility, and gratitude.

You would see Jesus Christ himself right next to it, praying on your behalf, for your good and God's glory (Rom 8:34).

Yes, there is a lot going on in and around God's hands. And today, you are invited commit yourself to His hands. It is an act of submission that Christ himself acted out...an act that will take your life, and then resurrect it into a better, eternal one. Jesus invites you to repeat after him as he says, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." (Lk 23:46)
