Christians Don't Worry

Master: Do not worry about your life.

Disciple: Forgive me, master, but how completely unrealistic that is for you to ask of me.

Master: If for you, the worry-free life is out of reach, then for you, you are right.

Disciple: Are you saying, then, that I am right to worry?

Master: No, my child. Worry is completely unnecessary. But unless you believe this, for you, worry is inescapable.

Disciple: I do not believe that a worry-free life is possible, master.

Master: Do you believe in me?

Disciple: Forgive me that I am living in a way that you must ask, Lord! Yes!

Master: Then you must believe that the worry free life is possible. Your worry is your doubt in God's care for you. Cast all your anxiety on him, for he cares for you.

Disciple: But what about the people I love? I care for them so deeply, I can't help but worry for them.

Master: You have bought into the great myth that worry for others is a sign of your love for them.

Disciple: Is it not? Is not the only other option apathy?

Master: My child, do you not see me? Do you not see me caring so deeply for the world that I would give my very life, yet I do so without worry? Of course you can care deeply and not worry. Imitate my holy life, and you will have it to the full.
