The Holy Spirit has an agenda. He's running something here.
During his grand introduction of the Spirit, Jesus said, "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever - the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." (John 14:16-18)
Jesus called the Holy Spirit a Helper. And what does He do? He helps.
Jesus was here to help. But while he was in worldly form, he was limited by worldly limitations. So he intended on praying to the Father to send another Helper. One without any worldly boundaries. He is a spirit...THE Spirit...of Truth, no less. Worldly folks won't be able to receive Him, limited by the their stubborn insistence that He doesn't exist or work because they can't see him. But you, dear ones, you know Him. You have the Spirit. You know it, because He is helping you.
Jesus says that He helps. Forever. You know Him. He dwells with you. He dwells within you. Jesus wouldn't leave you as spiritual orphans without help.
I know I need help, so I'm grateful to have it. I couldn't do this life on my own effort. It runs out far too quickly.
You want help? Then you want the Holy Spirit.
