"Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." - The Shepherds
Let's not go to Bethlehem as it is now, but as it once was. Let's go there on the night that the God of History entered into His own timeline.
Let's go there on the night that the Ageless One began to age. The night where the God of Creation became a part of creation. The night when the Christ, through whom everything took shape, Himself took on the humble shape of an infant, packaged in flesh just like yours. A little bundle of flesh that contained all of the magnitude and mystery of the Eternal Word, and then was called by the little word...Jesus.
But today, let's you and I go to Bethlehem and turn our heads, just for a moment, from the baby, to these Shepherds who came by to see the baby. They, like so many in the world today, have been told something incredible happened here on this night...that they should go see this thing.
They decided to do it, and they saw something amazing that changed their lives that day.
Let's look at them today. Let's look at what happened to them when they came to Bethlehem and saw what the Lord told them about.
And then let's see if the same thing has happened to us. If it hasn't, maybe we need to make the trip to Bethlehem.
