We need volunteers to provide childcare for children's ministry meetings and/or events and Wednesday nights.

Category: Children's Ministry

Our children's ministry coordinators are responsible for shepherding the hearts of our children, our teachers, and our families in a way that brings each group closer to living out the calling of Jesus on their lives. Coordinators take responsibility for: Finding substitutes, welcoming children and parents as they arrive, assisting with safety and security policies/procedures, and communicating and working with the Children's Ministry Team.

Pass all required safety protocols to work with children in our church family (background check, safety training, orientation, etc.). Be available Sunday at 9:10 am and be able to meet every 6-8 weeks with the Children's Ministry Team for prayer and planning. Coordinators usually serve 2 of the 3 semesters.

Category: Children's Ministry

Each Sunday morning, our children's ministry offers classes for children ages birth - 6th grade. Teachers serve as part of a spiritual team, nurturing our children's spiritual growth and transformation. Teachers prepare and teach the lesson from the provided curriculum each Sunday morning and usually teach for a semester at a time (January - May, June - August, September - December).

Pass all required safety protocols to work with children in our church family (background check, safety training, orientation, etc.). Be available Sunday mornings, 9:15 am-10:30 am, plus time to prepare the lesson during the week.

Our coordinating team meets periodically throughout the year to pray, share vision, and plan for our Sunday classes. During this time, we love to share a meal with our coordinators' families. If you would like to cook or bake for any part of this meal, we would love to hear from you. We typically serve family-friendly meals for about 10-15 people.

Each Sunday morning, our children's ministry offers classes for children ages birth - 6th grade. We can always use volunteers to be "on call" to help when we need someone to be with a new child or a child who needs extra attention. At times, we also need to call on individuals at the last minute to fill in when a teacher needs to be out.

Kind House Ukraine Bakery is a volunteer-run artisan bakery in Amarillo. Every loaf of sourdough bread, box of cinnamon rolls, and dozen custom cupcakes we sell goes directly toward humanitarian aid for families living through the war in Ukraine. You get something delicious. They get a lifeline.

RLP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Amarillo, Texas. RLP uses language as a doorway to welcome displaced people for the flourishing of the community and the glory of God. RLP welcomes refugees through programs that overcome language barriers and honor cultural diversity. Check them out on their facebook page or website - www.refugeelanguageproject.org.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families who travel to Amarillo seeking medical care for a child. Their mission is to alleviate as much stress as possible. For more than 35 years, a group from Southwest has volunteered to provide dinner for residents on the 2nd Monday of each month.

This group works together to cook or buy a meal for the residents. They will visit some of the residents as they arrive for the meal. This is a great opportunity to provide care for families enduring difficult circumstances.

Storybridge is a grassroots effort to change the story for our local kids by investing in their access to literacy as early as possible. The model is simple: Collect new and gently used books donated by our community. Purchase books with donated dollars. Sort all books by age groups. Distribute to kids in need through strategic programs (Storybridge Book Distribution, Kinderbridge, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, & Little Free Libraries).

We need workers to keep our Community Garden free of weeds and to pick vegetables as needed (to keep or give away) and possibly visit with someone in our neighborhood when the chance arises.

We need volunteers to shop for, label, and deliver chocolate bars for Valentine's Day, filled Easter Baskets, and Halloween goodies for the children at the High Plains Children's Home, Pa & Megan's Place, and the Amarillo Children's Home.

Volunteers pack the food bags that are given out each Tuesday and Thursday. You are responsible for having 13 bags ready by Wednesday afternoon.

We have members who cannot drive and need transportation to and from church service on Sunday mornings. Please call the church office to put your name on the list of volunteers. We would like to have 4-5 drivers, so that each volunteer would be responsible for only 1 week a month. Mark Sheets will schedule the riders each week.

Do you like to cook and/or bake? We need volunteers to make meals and desserts for events such as Starting Point and deliver them to the church kitchen by 11 am on the day of the event. The number of people varies, but we will let you know that information the week before the event. We will also reimburse you if you would like.

There are large areas like the gym/kitchen and small areas like the entryways that are mopped at least once, if not twice, per week. If you have some spare time during the week, need to get out of the house, and/or want to be of service, sweeping and mopping here can be a way to do that. It takes over 4 hours per week to sweep and mop this facility, so any help in this area affords us more time to take care of other aspects of this facility.

Because our First Responders keep irregular work hours, we want to have people ready to assist them and their families when needs arise while the First Responder is at work. Needs might be simple home repairs, transportation, or childcare. We want to fill the gap for these wonderful people who serve our city every day!

This ministry team serves during one of the most delicate times in life. We prepare and serve meals to families who are mourning the loss of and celebrating the life of a loved one.

We ask our volunteers to make either potato casserole, jello salad, or a dessert for the family meals served before or after a funeral service. Recipes are provided when needed.

The Hali Project Class is for adults with special needs to have a place designed for them that they can call their church home. On Wednesday nights, we focus on encouragement, Bible teaching, and prayer. If you are looking for a place to serve where you will be loved, appreciated, and leave feeling better than when you arrived, come visit us.

We assist members of our congregation with home repairs, small maintenance tasks, and yard work. We serve the elderly, single parents, and individuals with physical disabilities. Assistance is offered to those who have limited means to complete tasks themselves and those who do not have access to family, friends, or paid professionals for the needed work.

Necessary skills will vary according to the job, so we need a variety of skilled volunteers. The time required will also depend on the task and the number of volunteers available.

We use the website Meal Train to organize dinners for our members in need. It can be homemade or bought from a restaurant and does not need to be anything fancy. An email is sent to our Meals Ministry volunteers, and whoever is available can choose a day. The meal is generally delivered between 5 and 6 p.m.

Would you like to take part in a ministry that encourages our membership? The card ministry lets you work at your own pace and on your own schedule. Each team member takes a month to prepare cards to be signed and mails them each week during that month. Please join our team!

Category: Small Groups

In addition to the Welcome Desk, Small Group Central serves as an information hub on Sundays as we shepherd this church family in discipleship. Greeters need to be available on Sunday mornings to provide answers about classes, small groups, and other upcoming events. Information is provided, and Melissa tries to be nearby to help. We want it to be easy for someone to find help when they are ready to take their next step of faith.

Category: Small Groups

Co-leaders commit to supporting a Small Group Leader for the duration of one school year. Co-leaders are to be champions for the pastoral care of the group and pray for group members. Co-leaders are to serve as an ally for the Leader by participating fully and setting an example for others. Co-leader responsibilities will vary by ability, but some coordination, communication, and leadership are needed.

Co-leaders need to have a heart for the spiritual formation of those in their group. They will need to attend a training event with Melissa Shaver. Groups usually meet for 1.5 hours every week. Co-leaders will usually assist the Leader in choosing content and activities for the group each semester.

Every Small Group needs a safe place to gather. Typically, hosting responsibilities are shared among several members of a group. If you're willing to host your group occasionally, talk to your group leader or to Melissa Shaver.

Provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for group gatherings. These gatherings usually last no more than two hours. Secure at least one alternate meeting location for when your home is unavailable.

Our Small Group Leaders are ministers among us! Our groups exist to build meaningful relationships as we become more like Jesus. Leaders are responsible for facilitating their group's content and activities each semester. Leaders are also responsible for "guarding the environment" so groups can remain on a healthy trajectory.

Attend a Training Event with Melissa Shaver. Commit to lead a group for one school year. Leaders are expected to have a heart for the spiritual formation of those in the group. Leaders are encouraged to attend Quarterly Roundtables, which will provide a chance to connect, share victories, ask questions, and learn from each other.

Everyone loves getting notes in the mail. We would love for you to write notes of encouragement to our students as they are growing throughout middle and high school.

A desire to encourage. Once a month, write a note or even just send a text of encouragement to a student. Luke and Hannah will provide you with the names and information of students.

Open up your home/backyard to the youth ministry for one of our worship nights. These times can consist of eating a meal together, worshipping, and participating in an activity. Luke and Hannah are willing to facilitate all aspects of the evening, but you are encouraged to be as involved in the planning as you want to be.

Opening up your home and yard to Middle School and High School Students. The worship nights usually last around 2 hours. A large yard or nearby park is welcome but is not required. Provide or cook a meal for 30-40 students. (You are not responsible for covering the cost of this meal.)

Category: Student Ministry

This ministry takes senior adults and pairs them with a senior student for the year. We ask these adults to consistently pray and encourage our senior students as they walk through their Senior year.

Special Skills/Resources/Time Requirements

We will host a lunch in January for each senior to meet with their mentor for the remainder of the year. We ask you to attend that lunch and connect with that student as regularly as you both want throughout their last semester of high school. Pray for them, encourage them, and build that connection.

Pick up and bring donuts to our Sunday morning youth class. We would love our donut deliverers to have a donut with the students when they deliver!

Pick up and provide donuts for 40 or so students on Sunday mornings. Class starts at 9:30 am, so please deliver the donuts by 9:15 am. Let us know how regularly you would like to commit to bringing donuts.

Prepare and bring snacks for our Students on Wednesday nights. On Wednesday nights, we are trying to create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for our students. Really good, free snacks are a key part of making that happen!

Bring snacks for around 40 students. You can buy them or make them. They will eat whatever! On Wednesday nights, we start at 6:30 pm, but you can drop off your snacks earlier if that works. Communicate with Luke and Hannah about how often you would like to provide snacks.

Category: Sunday Morning Gathering

The Adult Education Committee seeks to offer a menu of adult class options each quarter. We intentionally offer both Bible studies and topical studies - and our goal is for everyone (including the teacher) to become more like Jesus. Class teachers will be responsible for developing content that lends itself to great discussion.

Special Skills/Resources/Time Requirements

Our classes prioritize discussion, so we are primarily looking for strong group discussion facilitators with a heart for our church family. Sunday morning classes are 45 minutes long, and Wednesday evening classes can last up to 90 minutes. Our year is divided in quarters, and classes usually endure anywhere from 4-10 weeks. The ability to develop quality content and facilitate meaningful discussion is required.

No special skills required. It takes 1-1.5 hours each week to prepare the trays. Each couple or team will be responsible for 1 month each year.

On Sunday mornings, this volunteer would arrive and unlock the entrances by 8:15 am and put out the communion trays in all locations.

Please show up to unlock the building on time. The volunteer would need to be able to carry the communion trays to all of the designated areas, including the balcony.

Join in with our praise team in leading our church family in worship.

Must have the ability to sing in tune and blend with other singers. Must have at least a rudimentary knowledge of reading music. Rehearsals are required for those leading on Sunday morning at 8:30.

Having the door opened as you arrive and being greeted with a smile is a perfect way to start your Sunday morning! We need volunteers to be greeters and pass out the bulletin as people enter the building for worhsip.

Be friendly and available at 10:10 am on Sunday mornings. We need several volunteers to be able to organize a rotation.

Category: Sunday Morning Gathering

Do you enjoy visiting with members and visitors on Sunday mornings? The Welcome Desk is a great opportunity to meet people, answer questions, and help out with a few housekeeping tasks. We need 2 people per week, so volunteer as a couple or with a friend.

Special Skills/Resources/Time Requirements

A welcoming smile and friendly attitude! Arrive by 9:10 am. At least one volunteer needs to be able to walk up the stairs to the balcony to count. Lock classrooms and west doors at 10:45. Stay until 12:15ish to lock the foyer doors and turn off the lights. Help members and visitors as needed.
