The Southwest church family has a mission. We are called to make disciples of Jesus Christ through relationships with God and others, but where do you go to learn HOW to make disciples through relationships? And where do you go to learn how YOU are uniquely gifted and shaped to do ministry? We have two events that are designed to answer those questions.
Our EQUIP event is designed to help you identify and develop the skills needed for relational ministry to the people God sends into your world. This half-day event trains you on how to CONNECT to God’s love, SEE people as God sees them, CARE through listening and learning, HELP people belong (both to God’s story and God’s family) and SHARE God’s truth. These are skills that we believe all Christians need to develop if they are going to love the world in Christ’s name.
This is an interactive, fun experience that participants say builds there competence in engaging the world for Christ and, just as importantly, builds their confidence that they can play their role in God’s loving mission in the world.
This event begins on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and is over at 3:30 p.m. It wraps around our worship services at 10:30 a.m. and includes childcare and lunch.
Our SEND event is designed to help you find your specific ministry calling. This half-day event includes a free spiritual gifts inventory that you take before you arrive, guided personal exploration of your unique gifts, desire, passion, and “fit” in the body of Christ, exposure to various ministry needs and opportunities that currently exist at Southwest and facilitates a relational connection to a “follow-up coach” who will walk with you after the event as long as it takes for you to find your Kingdom role that both glorifies God and fills you with joy.
This event is interactive, too, and participants say that it helps them to really know their uniqueness in the body of Christ, freeing them from the feeling that they need to “do everything,” rather they can find and do “their thing,” and God makes it fit in the body of Christ perfectly.
This event begins on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and is over at 2:30 p.m. It wraps around our worship services at 10:30 a.m. and includes childcare and lunch.
Both EQUIP and SEND are intentionally limited to no more than 20 people, and are currently offered two times per year.
