Doyle Corder

Worship/Executive Minister and Shepherd

Doyle grew up in Lubbock, Texas, at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ. He attended Lubbock Christian University, where he met his wife, Christy. Doyle and Christy then transferred to Texas Tech University where they both received degrees in Music Education. After working for several years in retirement care, he served for three years at Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview, Texas, as the associate minister for youth and young families.

Doyle and Christy moved to Southwest in August of 2000 to focus on worship ministry and begin a college-age ministry. In 2005, Doyle took on the office administration duties at Southwest and now serves Southwest by organizing and directing all of our Large Group Gatherings.  In 2014, Doyle joined the Eldership at Southwest.

The Corder family loves making music! Doyle has served the Amarillo High School Band as their drumline instructor and has also helped the Amarillo High School choirs in various ways. In 2020, Doyle was appointed to the Amarillo ISD school board.  Christy loves music and singing and teaches music at South Georgia Elementary School. Christy also performs often with the Amarillo Little Theater and the Amarillo Opera. Doyle and Christy have three children, Everett, who is the Communications Coordinator for the Texas Tech Alumni Association, Avery, a worship resident at Redeemer Church in Lubbock, and Truett, a student at Lubbock Christian University.
