Quayne Baccas

Shepherd

Quayne grew up in Spanishtown, Jamaica. He attended Southwestern Christian College where he met his wife, Ashly. While at Southwestern, Quayne competed in Track and Field and then earned an associate degree in business management. After that, he transferred to Auburn University in Auburn, AL and continued his collegiate track and field career and later earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology. After graduation, Quayne moved to Clovis, New Mexico, married Ashly, and started a 13-year career with Lowe’s Home Improvement. During this time, Quayne and Ashly welcomed 4 sons, Jaylen, Devin, Kobe, and Mason.

Quayne and his family moved to Amarillo in August of 2012 and placed membership at Southwest Church of Christ shortly after. They immediately felt at home and jumped right into serving with the children and youth ministries and small group ministry. Quayne and Ashly now co-lead a small group, teach children’s bible classes, and participate in many fun and faith-building events and activities at Southwest.

In 2016, Quayne and his family’s life changed dramatically when they accepted a position as houseparents at High Plains Children’s Home. As you can imagine, it was a difficult transition at first, but they soon realized that God had placed them there for a purpose. They have been caring for and walking alongside kids in the foster care system for over 7 years.

Quayne, Ashly, and their boys love to travel and play and watch sports, especially football, basketball, and track and field. They also love spending time with extended family and friends, going to the movies, and going out to eat.
