Alvin grew up in Panhandle, TX. Graduated Lubbock Christian College with BS in Agri-business. He was in Meistersingers Chorus where he met his wife, Brenda. Brenda graduated UT Southwest as a Physical Therapist. They moved to Panhandle after getting married where he farmed and she supported his farming habit as a Physical Therapist! The Lord has continued to bless him through various professions since leaving farming in 2000. He and Brenda moved to Amarillo in 2016 where he currently works as an estimator for local roofing company and she works at The Turn Center providing physical therapy for children.

He serves as a board member for High Plains Children’s Home and in 2014 joined the Eldership at Southwest.

Alvin and Brenda have 2 children, Hannah, who is a nurse working in Pediatric home health and Aaron, who works as project manager for a custom cabinet and specialty woodworks company. Both currently live in Lubbock, TX. Both attended and graduated from Lubbock Christian University.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I am attempting to learn to play Banjo.

What are your hobbies?

Woodworking, building things, sports and music.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

Phillipines and Australia

Favorite foods?

Most anything with meat!

Favorite music?

Country, classic rock, Bluegrass, contemporary Christian and gospel quartet music. What would you expect from someone named Stamps!

Favorite songs?

Battle of New Orleans by Johnny Horton and Will the Circle be Unbroken by various artists, and lots of corny songs that make you laugh or groan!

Favorite vacation?

Snow ski vacations with family.

Favorite book (other than the Bible)?

Tom Clancy – Jack Ryan series

Romans 12

Mac or PC?

Never used a Mac so I guess PC.

If you could share just one of Jesus' teachings with someone what would it be?

Prodigal son , no matter how low you go, our Father is waiting with open arms and a party!

Favorite moment at Southwest?

Baptizing our kids.

What do you love about Southwest?

We are willing to meet people where they are at in life and accept them for who they are.
